Nice looking rig, always was a fan of boat pics with snow...especially downeast and lobster boats.

SIMONG I am right there with you on the Wesmac. There was a 42 foot beast with twin Scania's in Point a while back with a red hull, nice looking boat. Heard it sold pretty cheap too for what it was.

Jersey Joe,if I'M not mistaken this particular Wesmac was for sale for the past 5-6 years, they said that twins diesel killed the ride of this Wesmac.

now seriously, why would i waste the talent and skills i have catching lobsters idea
i got the boat, for the simple reason,it's a great boat...again,an old school lobster boat like this is probably one of the most sea worthy boats ever built...cheap to run too...
and tell me,what looks cooler than an old school lobster boat idea answer...NOTHING !!
check out the new beals...WOW !!! check out a wesmac !!! woo woo !!

it's funny, more and more, the lobster boats are gaining in popularity, and it's pretty simple...ease of operation ! single diesel,a low hp diesel, like a 250hp cummins 5.9,a 220hp john deer, these guys are slow reving engines,in line design, these will run well over 10k hours if they're serviced well...fuel efficient idea well, you're never gonna get an outbaord powered rig to be as efficient...it's called common sense...
this rig is 40' overall length,12 on the beam, and it's weighing in at around 12tons...how's that for seaworthy idea

so,once again,to answer the question "am i going to be a lobster fishermen"...not today guys...sorry...but,with all the know it alls i've read on the internet message boards, not sure why guys like me are in buisness repairing boats idea

I don't know why Jim but I got the feeling that one day you will come across a more powerful diesel motor, and you will drop it in her, and maybe you will see 13-15 knots cruse...
the trend lately in lobster boats is to squeeze every knot possible with bigger diesel, people are always in a hurry this days...

trust me there big joe...i got alot of experience,i can tell you what works and what does not...i can tell you who builds a good boat, and who does not...i can tell what rides well, and what will kick your butt...so...with all that...

if you're looking for a very sea worthy ship,a lobster boat is an excellent choice...

this one,the boat i purchased, the builder is "frank osgood",it's listed as a 36 frank osgood

2008 Mako 171 with a 90 HP 2 Stroke Mercury

cool boat tell me about the boat: it's wood ? what does it have for an engine in it ? what's the round thing next to the steering wheel ? is that pipe sticking up,is that exhaust ?

looks like a really big boat

what's the plan for it ?

it's powered with a 4-53 detroit 2 stroke diesel-very old school !!
"round thing next to steering wheel" ? that's a "pot hauler",it's used to pull lobster traps-it's hydraulic

"pipe sticking up",that's a dry stack exhaust

and yes,it's big...real big...really cool too !!
