Do you have any other pictures? Closer/Clearer picture of the caudal fin (tail) would make for a fast identification. Thanks

From the angle and position of the pectoral fins, not so much the color, my first guess would be a juvenile dusky, not a bull.

I thought the same at first, but then im thinkin the angle of the tail is too steep, and tail a little too short for a thresher. Not that im an expert by any means

I am going to go with a brown. The top of their dorsal fin is a bit long but no where near a threasher. Browns are very common now through October.

I would go with a brownie as well.
We had a 3-4 ft. one on for a bit last Sat. while fluke fishing near a wreck, and so did a friend of mine ,so I know they are around.

What type of hook remover do you recommend for releasing a shark?

I made an excellent hook remover out of a wooden broom handle and a large s/s eye screwed into the end of it. I watched the Fla. sharking tournaments on cable and I had seen the mate release a bull shark in 3 seconds flat! I rewound and paused the show and saw what he used...Open the eye enough to pass 80lb test thru it, slip the line into the eye with a fish on and put the top of the eye on the bend of the hook in the fishes mouth, push the handle down sharply and the hook popps out and secures to the eye...it works so well that I made two - one 2ft long and for the larger more toothy critters, 4ft long.
