I had Rick and his girlfriend, Kevin. Mike. and Rick out for our first open fluke trip.

We caught some keepers fishing east north east of the inlet in 70 feet of water, but it was still very slow. I knew the wind was going to pick Up out of the south in the the afternoon, so we headed down that way.

It turned out to be a bad move with only short fluke and some keeper sea bass. We had the south wind at our back when it picked up to over 20 knots, but we should have continued working our way north in the morning. A quick stop at garden State north at the end of the day only yielded shorts.

Final tally just 3 keeper fluke to 21 inches and 5 sea bass. Jt

When asked where did we catch the fish, it's always in the same place, the lip.....

This season has been a tough one for all fluke and striped bass fisherman in our area. From reading the reports on this site and a few others all of the top notch charter guys like yourself are having a tough go of it this season.I agree it wasn't the typical lights out limit catch Games Gang trip but we all caught fish and as always a good time was had by all.

I agree with Griff, fun was had by all and as usually great crew. Fishing is fishing, can't catch what isn't there. Looking forward to get out with you in August for fluke and then for some blackfish.
