Glad it worked out. I am always a little weary of announcing these things that our International office has launched but the past few (sea smart, sea insure, and sea loans) are long overdue and been needed for our members for a long time. Thanks for looking into it.

Capt.Shawn, I have been a member of Boat US since 1991 and have unlimited towing with them. Since I joined this site I have read a lot of messages regarding Sea/Tow. I have not had any problems with Boat/US but I am interested in learning more about Sea/Tow. What would be the downside, if any, of using Sea/Tow vs Boat US? You seem to be well thought of my Barnegat Fishin' Hole members and from your posts, you seem to be a nice guy. Any info you can provide will be appreciated as my membership with Boat US Towing expires 4/30/07. czn "In The Mood"

CZN,

Thanks for the inquiry. You can have the best of both worlds. You can still be loyal to BUS and be their $19 member in which you can receive their magazine and still get their discounts. Use sea tow for your towing and on the water needs AS WELL AS using our discounts and receive our magazine. I could go on about the differences between the two but here is not the place. I will be more than happy to answer any questions anyone may have on the differences of the two companies and what we offer and why we offer more. Bottom line - we are a franchise and "own" our membership. That equates to wanting, no needing to keep our members happy year after year. Hope this helps and looking forward to answering any questions you may have. Just gve us a call.

CZN,
I would try to PM him. I know he is very modest and won't toot his own horn. So we do it for him. Plus we break it from time to time too.

I can tell you that you won't go wrong with Sea//Tow Central Jersey. Shawn runs a tight ship and his UNLIMITTED towing is truly UNLIMITTED. I know of at least one trip he ran to pick up a customer (a charter boat) at the Hudson Canyon....Yes Hudson Canyon.

John is referring to a time this fall when his electronics went out and he engine couldn't get over 4 knots. He was up off of seaside and making way towards the inlet. One of the guys from this site stayed with John until Shawn made it out. Shawn never took him under tow, just stood by with him the whole way in the inlet and back to Barnegat Twp.

Then there is the story of the over turned boat in the inlet a few years ago. Shawn left the security of his vessel to search under the overturned hull and rescued a child.(If my facts are off someone please chime in.)

Then there are the countless things he does for our site and the Barnegat Bay community. Most of you probably didn't know that he Co-Sponsors Barnegat Bay day along with a local radio station.

I can go on and on.

Bottom line, top notch guy with top notch captains working for him.

Wow he was typing while I was....

CZN you owe it to yourself to talk to a couple of people from this site and get their view. Sean is not one to brag, especially via a public forum like this. There is more to your decision than who you have your tow insurance from. Who do you want to deal with if you have a problem? What are those people really like? Ask around, you will find that not only is the local Sea Tow a good business, Sean and his employees are genuinely good people. They do the right things right. While they are in business, it's not just about the money, that's what sets them apart.

How much does BoatUS donate to the reef fund??? Answer: nada
Shawn is the classic example that in most cases local is always better.

Just my humble opinion.

I have not had to use him or Capt. Kermit but at the next gathering I will tell you my story about my experience the other company (before I switched) between that and all the service above and beyond that Capt. Shawn does will make the decision easier.
