Description
So close but so far away. Still working out some timing issues and carb adjustments but feel like she's come a long way.

Started back in August with a locked up engine and a lot of TLC needed. Going to redo the cabin and deck spring 2010 but hoping to finish her up soon and catch some stripers. Going to add another axel under the trailer as well in the spring.

Thanks for a great site, I am learning a lot here.

Thank Sean, Rick and Capt. Al. Could have spent less money and had it in the water weeks ago but took a lot of things apart and have done things the right way the first time. Hoping it means more enjoyment when its finally together an running right.

OMC 3.0 and OMC stringer outdrive. Gonna try again this evening. Only had volts going to the coil through the resister wire instead of the minimal 8volts. Ran a new wire and wow! the performance is so much better. Cant wait to try it out.

posted another picture. sooo close smile

alright... everything seemed so much better but and the boat was running strong and good. Then it started again.... Run 2-5 mins then stall. Wait 2 mins crank back up. do this over and over.

Going to hook a light bulb up to signal wire from module to coil and watch that to see if I am loosing spark. kindo of stutters when it goes. If you take off the flame arester and hold the choke nearly closed (3/16) gap or so it will run though so dont think i am loosing spark. Believe it to be a fuel problem. Dont know how old the gas was that was in it and thought I could keep from draining 44 gallons of fuel but looks like it has come to that also. Might replace the fuel pump also thinking that closing the choke creates a small vacume on the fuel line and maybe the fuel pump is not pumping enough.

Sooo - hooking up a light to the coil signal wire (even if its just to make it look like a disco), draining/replacing the gas and replaceing the fuel pump. just trying to get this all figured out and will worry about fishing once the boats running right. anyway, thought I would give an update as to where I was with this project.

Dave

Did another run before the storm last week. ran great up to 42 marker. Made the turn and started heading back and stall.... limped back to the ramp. Start run.... stall, start run ..... stall.... all the way to the ramp. fuel filter was empty when it would stall. Light on tach would not flicker till it stalled completely. = starving for fuel.

next day pulled the pickup tube out of boat, took apart and little inline filter in tank pickup tube was real dirty. I had blown through the tube before with no resistance and thought it was fine. as the tank would suck fuel it would wet the dirt in filter compacting the dirt and cloging the filter. it would slow the fuel enough so that fuel demand could not be meet under way and drain the fuel/water seperator.

so... new wires to coil, new coil, new module, replaced fuel pump, installed inline filter and took apart and cleaned fuel pick up tube. Wish I had taken that little rascal apart sooner.... will give it a try again this week and see if all is right now.

Yea Baby!!! smile smile smile

just got back and finished flushing and cleaning everything up.

got home around 5:30pm. loaded up the boat gear (no fishing gear), got my neighbor and headed for the ramp.

started - no problems.
let it warm up - no problems.
went up the no wake - no problems.
got on the throtle - no problems.
passed 42 marker - no problems.
just off marina to my left - no problems.
circled BI just inside OCC - no problems.
headed back, got to the ramp and on the trailer.....

NO Problems! smile Man am I happy and so was my neighbor. Called my fiance and had to tell her smile

max RPM was around 3500. gonna put the planner boards on tomorrow and see if that helps. if not I will try different pitches and size props. I didnt catch any fish but I couldnt be much happier with tonights drive on the water. was pretty calm out there too. lots of boats just south east of OCC where it comes into the bay.
